AmeriCorps Hosts Valentine Project

AmeriCorps members read stories on realtionships, love and ideas about the holiday at Grenada's Elizabeth Jones Library.
The Grenada School District AmeriCorps Program has established an annual Valentine’s Reading Program at the Elizabeth Jones Library. This has become a popular, fun event on a day students are dismissed from school for a professional development day. AmeriCorps members read stories on realtionships, love and ideas about the holiday. After the entertaining stories, students made Valentine cards for their parents and friends There was a lot of love and joy evident at the library that day. The event was sponsored by the library, AmeriCorps, and Dollar General who provided candy and heart crafts for the cards. The Grenada School District AmeriCorps Program is possible through a federal grant administered through the Grenada School District, AmeriCorps National Office and Volunteer Mississippi in Jackson.
